This Wednesday night we had worship Wednesday at church. We sang a song that said, "I will rest in your promises, my confidence is your faithfulness." It hit me right in the feels.
How often do we become weary in life when things just aren't going our way? Andrew and I have been praying about a few big financial things for YEARS and after so many years it can get old to keep praying about it. Especially when you haven't seen any positive movement. It can get hard to keep believing that one day that prayer will be answered.
The Lord refreshed our hope with some good news and restored our confidence in His promises this week.
I sense that there are some of you out there reading this and your heart has become sick. Hope deferred has made your heart sick. Sick-hearted individuals struggle to be confident individuals. A sick heart invades emotions, feelings, and thought processes.
My dear friends, let belief, hope, and rest wash over you this morning. I pray that God will plant a new seed of confidence in you. I pray that you would grow up and stand tall, firm, and unshakable as seasoned Oak trees do. They do not fear for a storm that comes. They have weathered storms and have confidence in their creators faithfulness.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 1 John 5:14
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16
...being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
